Saturday May 30, 2009

4pm - 9pm
Located at : Cobo Hall (map)

The Monster Energy 2009 DUB Show Tour made its way to Motor City on Saturday, May 30, 2009, as it packed Cobo Hall with tons of highly customized and modded vehicles and bikes. To help out the city of Detroit, DUB offered a special promotion that allowed free entrance when visitors brought out two or more cans of food, which was then donated to Capuchin Soup Kitchen. Even those with tickets were kind enough to bring handfuls of cans to support our effort.

This year, Detroit really stepped up their automotive game , as seen through the quality of cars that just keeps getting better each and every year! The Detroit show featured displays from Detroit-based Mobsteel with their murdered-out customs, as well as a huge array of the latest wheels from Arandas Tires. Spade Kreations showed off their sickest whips, which included everything from Donks to Lambos. Visitors also got to hang with the Kawasaki Street Bike Team, including Rickey Gadson, Jason Britton, Kane 'Insane' Friesen, and the Monster Girls, while they enjoyed free samples of Monster Energy beverages at the Monster Lounge, where they entered to win a Kawasaki ZX 14 Street Bike! This was the Army’s first stop of the tour, and their booth was jam-packed throughout the entire show.

There were also tons of various interactive displays to visit throughout the show, in conjunction to the area’s best ride customizations in existence. The TIS booth featured the DUB Edition 2010 Ford Taurus Sho that’s currently on the cover of Issue 60 with Ice Cube! We’ve added a special Tribute to Lowriding and Custom Bike Showcase to this year’s Tour, which was quite popular with show goers. Besides the hottest cars in the nation, the Detroit stop featured performances by Gorilla Zoe, Trick Trick, Stretch Money, Tone Tone, K-Deezy and Young J. Maino also came by and jumped on stage for a few minutes. Jason Maxiel from the Detroit Pistons made a quick stop to check out the show since his vehicle was in Icon’s booth.

Thanks to everyone who made it out to the Detroit tour stop, both show goers and exhibitors alike. We can’t wait to see what the other cities have in store for us as we embark on the rest of the 2009 DUB Show Tour! Special thanks to all of our sponsors for making the 2009 Tour possible: Monster Energy, Rockstar Games’ Midnight Club Los Angeles, Pirelli Tires, Tag, Xbox 360, NASCAR, 2K Sports,&id=507&Itemid=156 Mobil 1, Kawasaki, TIS, Dropstars and D20.
