Check out the Los Angeles recap video! For the past nine years, DUB has put car culture on the map with our yearly car and concert tour, and this year’s Monster Energy 2009 DUB Show Tour L.A. kickoff on Sunday, March 22 at the Los Angeles Convention Center proved that even through a recession, automotive enthusiasts and DUB fans, alike, wouldn’t miss out one of the most highly anticipated events of the year. More than 26,000 show goers experienced the excitement and entertainment that the Tour offers each year. Hundreds of the hottest custom cars were parked bumper to bumper across the convention center floor from bikes to tricked-out sport compacts - monster trucks to millions of dollars-worth of luxury and exotic rides. Music blared from every corner of the massive hall from the various sponsor and exhibitor booths, while the diverse crowd, comprised of all ages, walked the aisles practically shoulder-to-shoulder, given the amazing turnout of over 26,000 attendees. With so much to see and do, it was hard for visitors to decide what to check out first. The Monster Lounge was jam-packed every minute of the show, as visitors sipped on free samples of their energy drinks and checked out Ice Cube’s monster Ford 350 truck and tricked-out Kawasaki bikes. Rockstar Game’s Midnight Club: Los Angeles booth hosted the “Game with Fame” event where online gamers went head-to-head with notable L.A. DJ and DUB Host Felli Fel, as well as DJ Pooh, Glasses Malone, Bishop Lamont, Young Maylay and other surprise celebrity guests. The Pirelli Booth provided tons of beautiful women on display, while the Xbox 360 gaming arcade had guests singing in their “Lips Singing Challenge” to promote their latest title. Gamers also got to enjoy 2K Sports MLB 2K9 Gaming area that provided them with demos of the new game, as well as NBA 2K9. Back from last year was NASCAR’s “Tire Change Challenge,” which was still a crowd favorite as participants challenged each other to how fast they could change a tire, just like a pit crew of a real NASCAR race. Finally, the Metro PCS Lounge featured a party-going atmosphere with DJ’s from L.A radio station, Power 106, and Feli Fell, as well as a breakdancing performance by the “Funny Bones Crew,” with a special appearance by the Qwest Crew, winners of “America’s Best Dance Crew.” New to this year’s tour is the Ball Up Tour, where streetball superstars, such as “Assassin,” “The Professor”, “Mr. 720,” and many other star ballers battled it out on a full-court against the E-League of actors and celebrities. The action-packed game featured celebrity players, such as actor Donald Faison, boxer Manny Pachio and actor/singer Keith Robinson all hosted by none other than actor and artist Tyrese. Outside of the Convention Center, the Kawasaki street bike team demonstrated stunts and tricks part of the Ninja Underground show. As always, the concert stage featured the biggest names of the industry, as the beautiful Aubrey O’Day and Power 106’s DJ Felli Fel hosted the killer concert. Fans rushed the stage area to hear the sounds of MySpace Music artist Mateo, hip-hop group Pac Div, and chart toppers Ron Brownz, Colby O’Donis, Sleepy Brown, Jim Jones and Mr. West Coast himself, the notorious Ice Cube, who closed out the show, singing old school favorites and hits from his latest album. Former West Side Connection member WC even made a special appearance during Cube’s bangin’ performance that had fans throwing up their “W” signs, representing for the West Coast. If the success of the L.A. kick-off is any indication of what the rest of the tour will be like, then you’re in for one hell of show, no matter what city stop you attend! Special thanks to all of our sponsors for making the 2009 Tour possible: Monster Energy, Rockstar Games’ Midnight Club Los Angeles, Pirelli Tires, Tag, Xbox 360, NASCAR, 2K Sports, Metro PCS, Mobil 1, Kawasaki, TIS, Dropstars and D20.
